Task Force on Safe Participation in Political Life

The Ceann Comhairle, Deputy Séan Ó Fearghaíl, and the Cathaoirleach, Senator Jerry Buttimer, established the Task Force on Safe Participation in Political Life in May 2023.

The health of our democracy relies on equal and diverse representation. Reports in the media and survey results point to a significant level of abuse, including online abuse, and harassment experienced by those who participate in political life.

The Task Force has completed its consideration of this matter and has made proposals on how to safeguard and support participation and promote civil discourse in political life.
